WHAT’S NEW IN BC/YUKON?

by | Apr 22, 2026 | Regional Updates

Well, that’s a wrap for this season and it was an interesting one on the West Coast. One full of challenges around weather, snowfall and warm temperatures. That being said, a bad day on the slopes is still better than a good day in the office. March finished with a Spring Fling at Big White where we were treated to some fresh snow and great conditions. Big thanks to the Team at Big White for hosting a great event.

Things then moved to Whistler in April for a pilot of the new Big Mountain Course which will be rolling out next season. The R&D Camp was next with the Interski Team giving a sneak peek at the presentations they are putting together for the big event. Lots of great insights into the Canadian ski and teaching approaches under blue skies, sunshine and great snow conditions.

Great technical discussions and lots of amazing inspirational skiing, had everybody smiling and wishing the day would never end. Looking forward to seeing the final presentations at Interski.

Wrapping up the season was the Spring Fling in which over 270 members participated over the 2 days. It was a positive and fun finale to the season that was.

Shout out goes to all those that continued their professional development by taking a course this season, and congratulations to all successful candidates.

Congratulations to this year’s Scholarship and Bursary recipients. Your passion, dedication and hard work serve as an inspiration to your skiing community.

It was also an honour to induct Heather Bilodeau and Cameron MacKenzie into the CSIA BC Regional Hall of Fame as Inspirational Leaders. Both Cam and Heather are passionate about skiing and have spent countless hours training, mentoring and inspiring fellow instructors.

They’re both true professionals that have made significant contributions to the betterment of theindustry. They both truly are an inspiration to the next generation of instructors and ski industry leaders.

Even as the snow melts aways, we are already looking towards next season. Whether biking, hiking, golfing or swimming, the snowflakes are always swirling around in our minds as we look to make next season even better.
