By JF Beaulieu, CSIA Senior Director of Programs and Education

As we look ahead to the 2026–2027 winter season, the CSIA is entering a new chapter focused on building a stronger CSIA for tomorrow—one that honours our proud heritage, embraces innovation, and continues to elevate the standard of ski instruction in Canada. Guiding this work is a single principle: the Pursuit of Excellence.
Throughout the spring and summer, our staff, education leaders, and volunteers are focused on enhancing the programs, resources, and learning experiences that support instructors at every stage of their professional journey. Our goal is simple: to provide exceptional learning opportunities that help you develop your skills, deepen your knowledge, and teach with greater confidence and impact.
Here is a preview of some of the key initiatives currently underway as we prepare for the 2026–2027 season:
| • Strengthening Leadership & Member Education – New Program Manager and Educational Content Creator roles will help improve consistency, quality, and innovation across our educational programs, e-learning, videos, manuals, and member resources. • Ski the Canadian Way / Teach the Canadian Way – A major new initiative designed to create a common language and shared framework for skiing and teaching across the CSIA. These concepts will be embedded throughout our programs, educational resources, videos, e-learning, and instructor development pathways, helping strengthen consistency across the country. • Course & Certification Updates – All certification courses are being reviewed and updated to align with the Canadian Way framework. This includes simplified Level 1 and 2 content, updated evaluation tools, revisions to Level 2 and 4 programs and the roll-out of a new Big Mountain course. • Expanded E-Learning & Digital Resources – New online learning modules are being developed to better prepare members for Level 1–4 certifications, including Teaching Children, Snow Park, Big Mountain, and standards-based learning resources supported by video examples and assessment tools. • New Video & Learning Content – Significant energy is being put into new video content, including Ski the Canadian Way, Teach the Canadian Way, technical updates for 2027, teaching standards, assessment and development tools, course preparation resources, and member-focused learning content. • Enhanced Course Conductor Training – New pre-season learning resources, updates to the National Mentorship Program, mid-season development opportunities, and improvements to Course Conductor development pathways and support systems. • Interski 2027 Preparation – The CSIA Interski Team is actively preparing for the 2027 Congress through summer training, research and development sessions, and collaboration with our technical and educational leaders. Members can expect increased access to team insights, training methodologies, performance webinars, ski tips, videos, and behind-the-scenes updates as we bring the Interski experience closer to all CSIA members. |

The work underway today is helping build a stronger CSIA for tomorrow. By investing in better educational resources, stronger training systems, and enhanced member experiences, we are investing in the future of Canadian ski instruction. We look forward to sharing more in the months ahead and welcoming you back for what promises to be an exciting and inspiring season.
