WHAT’S NEW IN BC/YUKON?

by | May 8, 2025 | Regional Updates

As the bears awaken from a long sleep, the daffodils begin to bloom and the ski runs turn green, it’s time to bid adieu to our skis and reacquaint ourselves with our bikes, clubs, kayaks, etc. But before we start reaching for the sunscreen and flip-flops, a quick reflection on the season that was.

We managed to help over 55 members with funding to help support their professional development through our Scholarship, Bursary and Community Chest programs.

Spring Fling on Blackcomb wrapped the season’s programming and we managed to get over 550 members attending events across the region. The Big Mountain Pro Day was successfully launched, Northern Fest returning to Troll, were just some of the highlights of this great season. All members had a great time, re-uniting with old friends and meeting new ones, all while sharing the passion for skiing.

The BC/Yukon Regional Hall of Fame was created and we would like to congratulate Gerda Koch and Sandy Millar on being the first inductees. If you know someone who has made a significant contribution to the growth of the industry in BC and the Yukon, nominate them by completing the form on our website under the Hall of Fame tab.

Plans are already in the works to make next season even better so stay tuned over the summer for the latest news. Follow us on Instagram @csiabc or visit our website.

We are working at the next issue of the ProView magazine and are looking for content. If you have a story to share, a ski/teaching tip, photos or an article that inspires, please send them to us at admin@snowprobc.com. We would love to include them.

We want to hear from you! Contact us at admin@snowprobc.com with any comments, ideas or just to say hello.

With the season coming to a close, here’s this month’s question. What do you call a snowman in the spring? Send your answer to contests@snowprobc.com for a chance to win a prize. (Winner drawn at random from entries, must be a current CSIA member residing in BC or the Yukon to participate).

The answer to last month’s question – what is the difference between a tricyclist and a well-dressed mountain biker – is attire. Congratulations to Christopher, whose name was randomly drawn for a prize.
